I can get either system for around the same price for my 91 explorer (asmi $129, ifab $140). Which one is better?

Neither, both are just a generic cone filter, with aluminum tubing, which gets hotter than the stock plastic intake tube. It may look good in terms of 'show', being that lots of vehicles in magazines use similar looking systems, but it's not the best option in terms of performance or quality.

Best option is a KKM. Their bolt-on cone intake kit for the 91-94's includes a machined aluminum adapter and S&B cone filter.

yeah I knew about the kkm but ruled it out because it didn't have the tubing, after your comment and some research, the aluminum probably is worse than stock if anything. Im all go no show on this thing so im gonna go with kkm now. Plus I dont mind saving $50 that can go somewhere else. thanks
