Looking for information and your thoughts on the Jacobs Mileage Master & Pro Street Igniiton Kits. 95% of my driving is stop and go, around town. I'm looking to up gas mileage (now @14.8) and over all performance.

Stock Explorer ignitions are excellent, I would spend the money elsewhere.

Good luck.....

Suggestions please?.

suggestion- keep it stock

Well, the stock systems are really really good. I wouldnt change it- just make sure the wires and plugs are in good shape.

I havent heard much good about the Jacobs on this site, and Ive never used one. I have used a few MSD boxes on various vehicles (none with a modern ignition) and they worked excellent, so I would run something Im familiar with if I was going to run a box.

If youre looking for mileage I doubt you can do any better running a box over making sure the vehicle is in tune, and driving for mileage. The ignition cost will far outweigh the fuel savings youre after. If you have a modded engine with cam, compression etc then a box may make some sense, but for mileage gains I would look elsewhere- driving habits are the best mileage mod per dollar spent. :D ...$0

have fun

I would change to Jacobs or Magnacore wires.

15 mpg in town stop and go isnt all that bad. I agree with the other posts. Any mod you do wont return it's cost in improved gas mileage. Like steve vb says, just make sure your current stuff is in good shape. I know aldive is a big fan of Jacobs wires. They aren't that much compared to stock wires-plus they look awesome!
