I'm building a false floor

The box's dimensions are 36"x14". It will be six inches tall, so the subs will have an inch and a hlaf of firing space before hitting the bottom of the floor. Do you think this will be enough air space for two JL Audio 8w0 8" subs? Also, would it be better if I faced the subs down?

the 8w0's have less then 1.5" excursion i think. So u should be fine. Check the specs of the subs to make sure.

yeah itll be fine, plus the excursion has nothing to do with the distance behind the sub.
