2008 Explorer Sport Trac
Yo everybody. I recently bought a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with 87,000 miles and the engine light is on. Im handy with a wrench and have worked as an automotive mechanic but the problem is hard to pinpoint. My gut tells me that the throttle body has gone bad. The truck runs extremely rich(strong smell of gasoline), RPM sputters between 1,000 and 500 when idling, Has stalled in the past but its been almost 2 months, My fuel consumption has gone up exponentially, when accelerating from 0-60 or anything in between it sputters like it is flooding. The mechanic inside me tells me that that throttle body does not open up all the way so it is more fuel to less air causing it to run poorly. If anyone has had similar problems or has helpful input it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!
Nick
