Hi Folks;
I went and got my oil changed a while ago. I took my case of Mobil 1 and filter with me. Told the guy; "hey, tell them to leave the air filter alone, its a K&N; and its clean"!
Well; I'm running down the road later on and my wife says to me; "hey, your truck is a little louder now". I just dismissed it at the time. Well, I'm sitting around the house bored to tears the other day looking at my new Black and Decker drill and say to myself; "self, you have hole saws out in the garage".
Naturally; one thing led to another and I find myself drilling the airbox on the truck (what the heck else would I be doin', huh?). As I lift the top off of the airbox; I discover that the little wet-behind-the-ears, snot-nosed little punk that changed my oil did open the airbox (probably to see what a K&N air filter looks like) and when he put the top back on, he clamped the coolant recovery hose between the airbox top and the filter!!!!!!
Now; after contemplating what the state of California would give me for what I believe would be justifiable homicide; I calmed my self down and then drilled one hole in the front and two holes in the side of the box facing the fender. All of these holes are 1 1/2" in diameter.
The truck seems to idle better and definitelly sounds better when I get on it. I have not been able to check for improved mileage yet, though.
Well; thanks for letting me vent, folks.
George
