I'm replacing my 4.0's transmission, and I need advice!

'98 XLT gold trim
Now i have a 1998 ford explorer with the SOHC 4.0 V6 and I'm pretty sure it has the 4R44E transmission in it but im not completely sure can any one help me

Its a 5r55e.
 












My only tips would be to get a repair manual (Chiltons, Haynes, etc...) and estimate for twice as much time as you initially planned for.
 












trust me if i had the time and money i was gonna do a 5.0 swap and throw manual in there but i gotta get this done asap and under budget so i was thinking maybe a shift kit is there any place u no that has good deals on stuff like that?
 






but i lost reverse and 3rd yesturday so im just trying to get my explorer up and running again so im just gonna do a simple replace and worry about the other stuff later
