2012 Explorer
I purchased a set of in channel rain guards fro my 2012 explorer, not sure of the brand but there the ones that just snap in. I put the drivers side on in and the window stopped and went down after it hit the rain guard a few times but did eventually go up. My question is does this harm the window and the surrounding weather stripping, I like the look but not at the expense of breaking the window or having a problem with a water leak down the road.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, you won't have issues. The motor is designed to do that.
At worst it is inconvenient and annoying.

Suggestion: after installing the rain guards, keep the windows up for a few days, so the adhesive can adhere, so the rain guards are secure.

They don't have adhesive just pressure keeps them in. My main concern was deforming the weather stripping

you will be fine.

I wondered the same thing when I had my 2013 Ford Edge. I've used the Ford rain guards on my 3 previous Fords but Ford uses the tape to stick it on (sheesh, that tape barely touches the metal, it's practically on there forever - got to make sure it's lined up perfectly before sticking those on!) and it doesn't leave a nice, clean look with the extra flare required for the tape - especially on my 2016 Explorer, it ruins the black line from the top of the windshield that aligns with the black on top of each door (this on a silver car - black paint wouldn't make so much difference, I'd guess).

Anyway, back to my Edge - I decided to try the in-channel rain guards, think they were EGR (did the same with the hood guard but I liked Ford's version better, just very slight differences). And yes, the front window guards had to be fiddled with to get them set right. I had the same issue, the auto-windows hit the guard and went back down. Once they were in just the right place, never had an issue. The rear window were slightly easier, as they had a tape section that, once placed and the window up, locked it in place so they were never a problem. But I didn't really care for the idea of that tape being up, inside the channel - what if I ever needed to remove them? How to get the tape out if it stuck? Didn't ever find out, as I was rear-ended on the freeway and - well, that's why I have the Explorer now. My only issue with the front window guards, once they were set and the windows "accepted" them? The passenger window always had a slight air leak, drove me nuts on the freeway even though it was so slight (I'm OCD and don't like air leak sounds, like when door mouldings start getting old and flattened and don't quite seal tightly anymore). I did love the look - nice and sleek - but the air leak was a deal breaker from me ever using them again. So, when I purchased the Explorer 2 months ago, I returned to the Ford OEM parts; rain guards, hood protector, bumper protector, cargo mat, and running boards (yet to go on), all Ford. Only issue I have with this is, once again, the rain guards, front windows. As I already mentioned, they break the black line over the windows BUT also, once again, the passenger side guard, for some reason, it slightly off, maybe I twisted it a bit or something but, again, on the freeway, it makes air turbulence and that's almost worse than the minor air leak on the other! Or maybe I'm just crazy and hearing things - but only from the front passenger windows!!

I also have got in-channel deflectors installed, and I totally love the way they work and stay. I have got Weathertechs, and even though they are a little more expensive than the majority by other brands. But I totally love the quality of teh material, they are 100 worth it.
