For cosmetic reasons as in I do not have any tuperware and I am willing to fold my lip under not to mention I am 6'5" and I do not need a nerf bar I would like my sliders to be tight up against the body like Rick Horwitz has. I am not concerned right now about the third mount that this system lacks as I have seen it in action and it will do the job. If there is a problem and a need for a third bracket I have an excuse to buy a arc welder(the wife will be happy to hear that:D) If possible on my order please move it closer to the frame and closer to the body.
Thanks

the sliders look great, but I'm trying to think how mych extra $ and time wil be spent just to put these things on. I have a Haynes and couldn't figure how I would go about droping the gas tank for this project, or what I would do about the gaslines that run on the driver-side frame?
I have seen the sliders that attach to the pinch weld of the body and use all the empty 19 something holes to attach the flat steel. It looked solid and could also be used as a hi-jack lift point. It also could be done with any kind of lift since it hooked to the body.
Would this be a good idea? I once saw some threads but have since done a search and found nothing.
I know that frame mount is much stronger but seems like less work and less danger (not having to play with breakwires and fuel )
The body mount would concern me that it would over torque the body and I don't know if they could be made removable or not.
Please let me know any info

Blake

Ps I know some of you have done the sliders like the way I described. Please give me any info on them, the upsides and the down and let me know how they are standing up :shoot:

 :bounce::confused:  :bounce:   :bounce:   :bounce:   :bounce:

:D

Down side is that if you do any real rock crawling and you drop down on boulder the body will bend.

Can it be used as a hi-jack point? If it could wouldn't this mean that unless I came down really hard I would still be ok?

Mostly around here there are just gravel piles and I am afraid to mash the rocker panle's. I am going to pull of the fender flare runningboards(fiberglass) and hurculiner the rockers but I thought it might be a good idea for some extra protection and still allow for my wife a place to put her foot to get in.
I have some places that i could get high centered over a "bump" and if i need a push or pull I don't want to have to buy new doors etc.
So.... would the pinch weld be ok for this?

I know some of you have done this, please let me know.
Blake

Thanks for replying Ric!:D :D :D

rock sliders attached to pinch weld

Those of you that have rock sliders attached to the pinch weld please let me know any information you have, or those of you who know someone who has this done let me know so I can contact them.
Thanks!
:smoke: :smoke: :smoke: :smoke: :smoke: :smoke: :p :p :p :p

gotta love these smiles!

I myself wouldn't want to use the pinch weld to mount sliders to. In my opion they wouldn't hold up to hard wheeling and could speed up cracking the body mounts. Dropping the gas tank isn't that hard if you have an extra hand, and brake lines aren't really in the way. You just have to keep an extra eye on them when you're drilling the frame. Same goes for the gas lines. :D

For info on how to drop the tank look up details on how to replace the fuel pump. You'll have to drop the tank to do that. :D

Do you have to completely disconnect the gas tank or just lower it?, decompress the fuel lines?, How do you drill around the gas lines? This is what has me concerned.

You really only need to lower the gas tank, however for safety reasons and to make your life easier it's suggested you lower it as much as you can. We held mine up with some jack stands set at it's lowest point with the truck on ramps. The fuel lines are up towards the top of the frame and the holes are towards the bottom, but you still want to watch when you're drilling. We decompressed the fuel lines due to me wanting to change the fuel filter. There's a small slot in the engine on the right hand side that you'll press with a screwdriver to let the gas out of the fuel lines, that's really all there is to it.

What about the fuel lines running along the inside of the frame?

They're out of the way. As long as you're careful and don't let the drill get away from you you'll be fine. :D

Gloria,
I was wondering how my sliders were coming. I have two huge dent now on my pasanger side rocker pannels and its starting to become upseting. I am not upset at you, just the fact that my co-pilot was not there to tell me that I was about to crash :banghead:

I was the second person I believe to give you a deposit, can you give me an update? I would be willing to pay extra to have the mounts moved up 1" or at least a half inch to get them tighter. I will make the adjustment inward after I have recieved them and put a few runs on them.

Please let me know the progress as I might have to go with someone here in town. I hate to do that:(

I was also wondering if you guys would install it and what you would charge. I am always willing to make a trip to Vegas:D

Our son, Corey James, was born on Feb 18th, at 10:55pm. He weighed 8lbs, 2.5ozs, looks just like his Daddy, and has a full head of hair. He is beautiful.

I delivered by way of c-section. Thus, I have been unable to do much of anything. As per doctors orders, I am unable to lift, or bend for 6 weeks following the surgery. I should be cleared to work again, by my doctor, the first week of April.

We will then start working again.

Surgery sucks, as this is my first one. There is no sleep in the house anymore. :) However, we love him dearly, and wouldn't trade him for the world.

I will let everyone know when work starts again. Thank you all for your patience. :)

Beautiful Child!
Future 4Wheeler I hope!

Congrats:D

Congrats Gloria!
