Got my indiglo gauges installed but I don't know where to tie into for power

Bigtig's writeup said the white w/black striped wire from the switch(headlight?) and that doesn't work
Maybe one of two reasons
1.) Ground sucks
2.) His 99 or 00 (I forget) has different wiring than my 98

Or else
I could tie it the the parking lamp fust or relay. I figured the after the relay would supply it with more power, but how many amps could indiglos take?

Anybody with ANY advice, speak up!!! Gauges without backllighting at night are ticking me off!!!

Thanks

search for bigtigexplorers indiglo install writeup.. itz very helpful

I did that already and the power is not working for me
Believe me, bigtig's writeup saved my butt!!! I would be lost without it!

Anybody else?

I have indiglo gauges on my 98. They are wired to the head light switch. Not the parking light one b/c that is hooked up to a dimmer switch and I was told that is a big no no. You just find out which fuse is for the headlights pull it out and stick the wire for the gauges in. The only thing I dont like is that when I turn on my high beams my low beams go off so therefore so does the indiglo on my gauges. I dont use my high beams to much and I just got some Hella 500s so that problem is taken care of.

I dunno if this helps...but when I installed mine on my 95 sport, there was 2 wires...one was black with white stripe, the other seemed to be like white with black stripe...so maybe u should try both of those out. Also i think there was a brown/black wire which i originally tried thinking it was black/white, i dunno maybe that has something to do with it..then i screwed through the ground wire into the metal under the dash above the pedals...

i need to bring alive an old thread here for some advice .

I just put in indiglo gauges on my 98.. i used the white/black wire for my power and it works.

Heres my symptoms:
-Gauges work
-Low beams work
-High means no worky (but gauges stay on)

BTW: What a PITA! theres barely any room to get that gauge cluster out. My gauges are a little bit off but i just dont feel like ripping it all out again. wish i never bought the things :banghead:

Here is the link that I have for the indiglo gauges install. Hope it helps. I know it has pictures and all.

Woops, sorry I see you got them installed now. LOL, I may wish I didn't sell them to ya, LOL. I knew it was going to be a pain in the rear, that is why I went ahead and spent more money and bought the 01 sport gauges with the white face plates on them and the red needles. May not be as fancy, but much easier.

lol, im mad but id be really t'd off if i spent $60 for em. So i gotta thank you there :chug:

Im still kinda hot-headed over the installation. However its hot out and i was getting eaten my mosquitos. Someday that im not busy (if that ever happens) i may take it apart and do it again... or just plan on gettin reverse gauges like i wanted...

You may want to think about doing what I did, and get the nicer white faced 01 sport gauges with the red needle indicators. I have 1 more set left that I was keeping for a back-up in case the ones I installed were faulty in some way, which didn't prove to be the case, so I have them laying here now.

will they plug right in to my 98 and fit right? (does this mean it wont look like i have 140K miles too!!!)

And what do you mean by a spare set? ... indiglo or out of an 01 w/white faces already?

They will fit right in. I bought 2 complete sets for my 98. The first one I was not too sure of if they were OK or not. They are perfect. So I had the 2nd set in case the 1st ones were bad. Yes, they have white faces already with red needles. Here they are in my truck. Of course the other set is better and has lower miles. ;-)
