Does anyone know of a good class D amp that is about 1,000 to 1,200 watts?

MTX 1000d

Check out the bd1000 by Rockford. It puts out more than it is rated for and my friend has one that pushes his 2 Eclipses nicely.

Thanks for Info. I will look into them both and let ya guys know what I got and how it works.

go for a ppi or a orion or somthing. MTX and rockford dont have the best rap as far as quality. just my opinion

I have a Jensen 600watt amp, is this any good for powering 2 Infinity Kappa perfect 12" subs?

sideswipe: depends on what ohm load that 600 is for. the subs are 350rms each, but they can take around 400 or more. If that jenson puts out 600 @ 4 ohms and is stable to 2 ohms, it'll work great for 2 infinity's. You'll just have to turn it up. Without the acctually stats on the amp, i cant really tell ya what the watts per sub will be, but as long as your not going for insane SPL, it should be fine. Jenson might not put out quite 600, but it should be close.

good luck,
Jeff aka Lamah

justin: he already has the amp.

These are the specs on the amp:

Number of Channels: 2
Peak Power Per Channel @ 4 ohm: 250
RMS Power Per Channel @ 4 ohm: 125
Peak Power Per Channel @ 2 ohm: 350
RMS Power Per Channel @ 2 ohm: 175
Peak Power Bridged @ 4 ohm: 600
RMS Power Bridged @ 4 ohm: 300

HOw do i set it to 2 or 4 ohms for my subs? Will t his underpower the Infinitys? Any other advice is welcome.

just try it...

Get all your wires ran to the intended amp location, then hook it up and see how it works. You can connect it without mounting it.
Considering that you have spent good money on high quality subs, I'm guessing you want to use them at their full potential. IMHO, you just won't get the results you're looking for with that Jensen amp.
Look for a good quality High power 2ch amp or perhaps a 4ch that you can bridge.

SIde swipe.....I agree that Jensen's do suck.....I use to have a 150x2 and I had 2 blaupunt 12's and I blew 2 or 3 amps them, and I also had 2 fosgate 12's on it (at another time) adn kept on blowing them....Yes, all my electricals were run correctly, they just suck, IMO. Now I've switched to Alpines, and love em despite the price.

infinity's only come in 4 ohm, so you'll need to wire them in parrellel to get 2 ohms. Also, if you do get a new amp, i would stick with a 2 channel or Class D (one channel) because you'll be able to get more watts for less money.

good luck,

OK-

What about a Pyramid 1400 watt amp powering the Infinity subs? 2 channel x 700W...any good?

700x2 or 350x2 ? and is that rms or peak? and what ohm load is the 700 at?

It claims to be 2x700 bridged MAX, but I cant find RMS info for it anywhere....

S/N (Signal to Noise Ratio): >95Db

THD (Total Harmonic Distortion): <.04%

2 Ohms Stereo Stable

you'll be WAY under powering them, plus i've heard pyramids arent all that great. max watts doesnt really mean much, its the rms that count. It'll push em, just wont get too loud.

Pyramid blows the big one, if it says 1400 watts, it's really 20watts of pretty much just distortion. Don't go with the cheap stuff if you like sound quality.

pyramids are garbage. i had one and the power was not clean at all. nothing but distortion. when it comes to audio systems you deffinatly get what you pay for.
