So I ordered and installed my JBA's this week. Needless to say no easy task what so ever. My hands look like I had a street brawl not a header install!!! Anyway... Everything was going just fine and then it came time to start mating the headers with the supplied Y pipe. No matter what I did I couldn't get the drivers side down commer to meet up with the passenger side. So I gave up for the night with hopes that the header fairy would come by and finish it. To no avail. I figured it was because I didn't leave the headers under my pillow. I went out the next day took everything apart that I had done the previous day and tried again. Still the same story. What I ended up doing was slipping the piece of stock that came with the kit into the passenger side Y pipe, this left me with about an 1/8th" gap between the two. Doubting everything I had done I contacted JBA for some affirmation. Apparently Scott (designer) didn't design this kit for 5 spd's. "Now you Tell Me!". He told me to pat my self on the back for getting it as close as I did. I drove it to the muffler shop VRRRRRROOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!! and had the gap welded. So now all is well. No leaks, (there really is a header fairy). Next to come are the 24 lb injectors, tuned 75mm MAS, and a calibrated Apten. That should do it for the power train end. 4.0 OHV BOLT ON HEAVEN!!!:D

Damn man that story cracked me up, good luck with the headers and your other mods!

Thanks for the luck with the headers... Where was that luck two days ago?.?.
I guess the moral of the story is if you got a 5spd be prepared for hell on earth, sore muscles, scatched/bruised knuckles, and 1000 hail marys and 500 our fathers for the amount of swearing you will need to confess.

Just to clarify, are you talking a manual or automatic? Both are 5-speeds from '97 on up on the V6s.

Manual

Sorry to bring up this old post, but I have some questions about the headers. I have a '00 and i was looking at possibly purchasing some headers and having a muddy of mine at an exhaust shop install them for me. What all comes with the "package" - just the headers or what? What else will I need for a complete install? I have the SOHC V6 AOD! Give me any pointers; thanks

I saw the chrome was cheaper, but I don't care too much for the "bling" I just want something that will not rust.

I doubt he'll be answering your question any time soon. I haven't seen him online in months.

Well, I haven't seen him online in months. :D

On a N/A 4.0 you're better off spending your money elsewhere. It sucks spending a few hundred bucks on headers and LOSING power :(

Yeah, I was just on Explorer Express looking at a few things - ran across the supercharger! ha - very nice. $4,200 I believe. Oh well, I need to finish my drivetrain anyway. Thanks everyone.
