Ok, for the good news. I just finished my TMH install along with a 1" phenolic spacer on the intake. This cured the check engine light due to EGR codes and fixed the bad exhaust leak that was from a broken EGR tube. Now for the bad news, :thumbdwn: I had a chugging or loping idle at times before starting this project and also at times a very high idle, 1500rpm or so. The idle stayed high constantly except when it started to chug or surge( sorry this is the best description I can think of) I thought I could hear a bad vacuum leak under the upper intake and figured this was the cause of the high idle. Hence the install of the spacer. Figured if I had to pull it to check for a leak I might as well do the spacer. Unfortunetly I did not find a leak so I put everthing back together and still have the idle issue, with the exception of the high idle. It will idle about 900rpm until it starts chugging. I also have a miss that I can feel under hard acceleration. It seems to stutter, specially when going up hills, At rest when revving the engine it doesn't seem to miss. I have cleaned the airmeter, throttle body and related hardware with no change. Plugs are next on the list but only have about 60K on them, they are platinum and looked good when removed for header install. Wires are original, 176k miles, and will be replaced with the new plugs. The check engine light is not on and all else seems fine.
Sorry for the lenghty write up but wanted to cover as many details as I could.

Quick update, coming home today the check engine light came on. Stopped at Autozone and had them read codes. 171 and 174 bank 1 and bank 2 lean. Had him reset and they did not come back on. Short trip from there to home.
Anybody got a little help here? Is it in the wrong forum?

I would check the PCV valve and grommet-is it loose? Check also the "t" fitting in the pcv hoses-that thing cracks very easy.

you have a vacuum leak somewhere for sure.
