No longer bolts or anything else needed.

First of all, I did this, and I kinda wish I went with a longer coil, because it will give you more articulation.

But the spacers are cheaper, so I`ll give ya some pointers that should help ya out:

*Undo one side of your sway-bar
*Undo your lower shock mount bolts and pull them off an let`em hang

This lets you get enough droop to get the coils out.

IMPORTANT* look closely at how far the coils are screwed into the top. Make some kind of a mark because you want them to be at the same point when reinstalling.

*It`s kinda tricky getting them in because it`s at a wierd angle*. You can lean on the end of the axle and/or use a prybar to get it back in. Once it is in you can screw it into the top (where it was before) then use a jack to push up on the axle end while holding the spacer at the right spot (It has a notch where the bottom of the coil fits-you`ll see)
Once you get it seated, you can use a rubber mallet to bang on the spacer until it is centered around the bottom stud (my spacer had a hole that was larger than the stud so I figure yours will too)

If it`s centered, put the nut back on and tighten `er up!

-you know the rest, but don`t forget, now you need an alignment with a bushing kit, cuz yer tires are like this \ /

-good luck

so where exactly does the spacer go in the coil or does the coil sit on top of it
is this the same type of space they have at advanced auto

I don`t know what they have at Advanced Auto but the spacer goes under the coil, it replaces the seat you have under stock coils.

I got mine from a kit I got from someone on ebay. It was just a ford F-150 spacer.

Actually it is a Alignment shim for the ball joint that will be required with the alignment. You will need a good long extension for your 1/2" drive ratchet. drop the 1-1/8"socket right down the center of the coil, then tuse the extension and a breaker bar to get the coil retainer nut loose.

Like he said just make not of how the coils are seated before you pull them out so you can get it back the same way.

It took me all of an hour to install both sides, and most of that time was spent jacking it up and pulling the wheels on/off.

Ok i just tryed to put the spacer on and the bolt is to shorrt is this right or is something wrong i have a 1992 2wheel drive 2 door model Explorer.

OOOPS!!! the two wheel drive coils spring bolt is not long enough for the F-150 spring seat. Sorry.

You need to get the same bolt from a 4x4...then it should work.........

The coil spacers can only be used on 4x4's for this reason........

For the 2wd, u need a stud xtender. Or you can get this kit which is sold on this forum.

KF09101

'91-'94 2" Coil Spring Spacer Kit

Front 2" Coil Spring Spacer Kit
2 Spacers, 2 3/4" Stud Extenders

This is the item that most folks had a problem with as the spacer was too high to get the retaining plate and nut back on. The kit now comes with 2 stud extenders and will work on 2wd and 4wd Explorers.

MSRP: $166.58

Explorer4x4.com price$85.95

Shipping $7.00

good luck!!!
ps Maui no ka oi;)

Ok i just tryed taking off the 3/4inch bolt and it will not budge i tryed my 1/2'' impact wrench and it still wont budge and it is rated at 250ft.lbs.
How can i get it off someone help please.

Thanks

I used a big wrench first, just to break it free. It broke loose fairly easy, but I did spray it down a couple days before with some liquid wrench. Try to clean your threads also before taking it all the way off. I had 1 or 2 hangup spots, where some dirt got into the threads, even using an impact. This will make things go alot easier.
