It's pretty easy, 3 bolts and a few electrical plugs. Should take 1/2 hour or less if you have any mechanical ability.

Yep easy as pie. heres a tip to do it reletivly faster

1. break the bolts that hold the alternator loose just a little.
2. have your friend loosen the tension on the belt and hold it there.
3. You quickly unscrew the rest of the alternator bolts. and dissconnect the electrical connections.
4. Throw the new one in place and hook up connections. *by this time your friend will be getting tired of holding the belt tensioner.* Put in the bolts semi tight, and put belt back on. Just make sure its aligned like it was before you took it off!

goodluck

don't let the belt snap and smack u in the face or n e thing it sux!

i'm thinking of doing the same. i got all those off-road lights and all. how much does a 130 cost and is that enough?

the 130 amp alternator from napa is $166 including the "core refund." ill probably be doing mine in a week or 2.

cool cool. on my list to do

you can get the 130 for about $125 at autozone after you take in your old alternator. Even if its smaller, hehehehe thats what i did, just be like heres the old one...slide it over and they take it. :)

according to the pepboys computer the stock alternator was 95 amps, well, maybe 90 i forgot the exat number but its one of the 2. and it was listed under the 4.0 SOHC listing.

i was just at napa last week, and in 98, the only one listed for the sohc was 130 amps, there was also a 95 amp one listed, but that was for the ohv. pep boys computers are notorious for being "off" sometimes.
