After struggling for months with my instrument cluster dying off and on, I've ordered a used replacement. I've read that a dealer has to do some type of reset of the panel to link it to the key. Question: does anyone know if you can replace the panel and then take it to the dealer to reset or does the dealer have to do the install for the truck to actually function?

Guess I could at least pull the dash apart so the dealer doesn't have to do that part. I've done it so many times now that I'm sure I can do it faster than they can.

Thanks.

Replaced the instrument cluster

Just a quick update. I found a used cluster on Ebay ($65). Installed it today. I did not take it to a dealer to do any sort of reset. Everything works great. The only thing that isn't quite right is that the Odometer dropped 100,000 miles. No chance I'm gonna pay a dealer $100 to do a reset just to fix that.

Bottom line, if your instrument cluster goes, if you can find a used cluster it's an easy fix. So HAPPY!

Good to know!
