i have a 1993 ford explorer, which for the past year has lost starting with small amounts, growing into large amounts, then to find out i have a crack in the lower intake manifold gasket, i was wondering if anyone had the procedure to do this, i took out the 5 nuts off of the upper intake and the 2 holding on the coil pack, and it wont lift off of the studs, so im lost here, anyone know the procedure, or tips on doing it? any help would be great

There is supposed to be 6 nuts holding the upper manifold on, also there is a lower bolt on the coil pack that will need to be removed, just trace the bracket down to the exhaust manifold and you will see it.
I would suggest buying a Chilton or Haynes manual first, while they are wrong half the time, they have a decent write up of how to do this, along with all the torque specs.
Also is your ac hard line running around the back side of the intake, or has it been rerouted under the throttle body?

Don't forget to remove the alternator, fan and shroud, unbolt the A/C compressor, remove both valve covers, label all of the vaccum lines and sensor connections before you disconnect them, battery, air intake tube, a/c line bracket, etc.,etc.,... There are 6 bolts to the upper intake manifold. One at the back, four in the middle, and one at the front of the manifold. Also, don't forget to unbolt the radio interferance bolt, etc., etc.,. Like Darrman said, buy a Chilton's or Hayne's manual. Then read up and get busy!;)

You got some good advice alreday. Plan on 6 hours.

You can lift the Plenum up and off without disconnecting the Fuel lines. Just rock the whole mess and lay it on the Brake Booster.
