I need to try and find out if the transmission out of a 1991 Explorer would fit into a 1994 Explorer

Welcome to the site. 
They are both A4LD's so they should be very similar. If they are different the parts can likely be swapped to make it work. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will give you a definate answer.

Yes they will swap. The 94 was the last year they built the A4LD and it is a much improved transmission over the 91... but they are the same transmission size wise so they should swap just fine. You should get a good price for a nice rebuildable 94 core.
