i just started thinking about why none of my interior lights work in my 97' E.B. The lights that do not work are the headlight switch, 4X4, rear wiper, and also the defroster and fog lights light up when switched on but the icon doesnt light up at all. the speedo and all the indicator lights work as well as my msg center. but could this be a fuse or all of the lights be burnt out, i dont remember whenther they worked or not when i bought the truck.

does anyone know how or is there a thread on how to change all of these lights?

All of those bulbs are noted for burning out. I replaced mine with some bulbs from Radio Shack, 272-1092. They are not an exact match, a little smaller in size, but they work well. You do have to carefully remove the colored sleeve off of the factory bulb and place on the replacements. Some have converted to LED's. I am not quite that ambitious.

thank you i might head over there tomarrow to get some bulbs. but the LED thing interests me. How would you convert to LED's just use resistors to bump power down to 2v from 12v and plug into origional socket or do you have to re-wire?

Do the radio shack bulbs just drop in? Any special mods besides removing the sleeve? How much do they cost?

No mods for the RS bulbs. Each bulb you encounter has a mount it is on that screws in place inside the switch. Once you remove the radio bezel and each switch you are replacing bulbs for, the "mount" issue will make total sense to you. All you do is remove the mount, undo the small wires, remove the colored cover from the bulb, place cover on new bulb, place new bulb in mount and wrap wires around mount as the old bulb was. the wires are what gives the bulb power and have contacts they have to make at the base of the bulb mount. Very easy to do. Cost is about $2.00 for a 2 pack of the bulbs. Very cheap. I, too, hate bulbs being out. The only switch I noticed any difference in as far as lighting up was the rear wiper switch. It is a little dimmer than the others because it has a larger area to light up, but it is not really noticable, and is better than no light at all :)

Thanks! Is it the same bulb for the headlight switch too?

Yes, same for headlight switch. To replace the headlight switch you have to basically remove the surround for the seedo/guage clusted. If you are going to do this, go ahead and pull out the guage cluster and replace the 6 bulbs with 194LL bulbs. Just my 2 cents worth.
