I'm thinking of replacing all the bulbs (half are burnt out) in my dash and interior with LEDs.

I wonder if there is a good LED kit out there for the Explorers? Kits seem to have better results versus individual bulbs as I have had problems with the latter method such as colors don't match, brightness varies and some LEDs even continuously glow even when the light is supposed to be off.

Anyone had good results with a full conversion LED kit that they would recommend?

I pieced mine together from ledlight.com and it seem like the only ones that lasted had the " SMD 5050" chips in them.

That's all I would recommend, grab some 12v LED bulbs with SMD 5050 LED's in the color you want. Get maybe 2x the amount you need. I'd suggest hooking them up to a 12v source for a day to see if any happen to die. I replaced my upper mid brake light with some red SMD 5050 panels and a couple of the LED's died. Still looks super bright and great but I wish I had tested them longer. You could pay a LOT more for a specific kit and still have to do a fair amount of work.

If I just want to replace all the bulbs that illuminate the instrument cluster and then the A/C controls, how many of what type of bulb should I get?

I think I will replace all the warning lights with old style bulbs so that I avoid the glowing warning light problems.
