Under dash LED lighting

k so diode coming from dome light, diode coming from radio ignition, radio ignition to switch, splice dome light and radio ignition together, LED board.

Is that right?

so, i've been reading this thread for a while now, and i'm about to do this with green :P. but what would really help (other than the diagrams) would be a picture of of the whole board completed, so i could see how the L.E.D.s are all wired together, i have the general idea, just want to make sure i'm right. and everybody was right about ebay. i got a pack of 25 13,000 bulbs with free resistors for $4.40.

and mustang, your work is amazing;)

Ok so How big should my project board be

Each of my boards were roughly 12"x 1" (It can be any size you want)

Thanks, I don't have a picture of the wiring on my computer. I can't remember if I took one, but I will check my external hard drive when I get home. If I don't have one I will take one, but it won't be home until the weekend.

just did the drivers side.
dont know if you can really see it, but i also put 2 in the a/c vents and 2 underneith the dvd screen :)

doing the passenger side and maybe the back seat this weekend

they almost look 'dark aqua' blue in real life
which goes well, because i can change the colour of my HU screen to match :D

i did this mod when i first got my car...just have not had the time to post it. so i just wired the lights from a fuse tap. the fuse i tapped was to my driving lights the amber ones so that when i turn my lights on they come on. i also put a switch in so if i do not want them on i can turn them off. i hid the switch in the ashtray thing from my center console so its out of the way.

Any way possible?

Is there anyway to accomplish all this for front and rear lighting?

LED's on when the doors open, off when there closed; on with a switch (when doors are closed) and be able to dim them with the factory dimmer; and be able to choose 2 different colors on both boards.

Similar to this but exept i need a constant 12 volt, dimmer, and dome light:

Also i have 17000mcd white and 6000 blue.

Sorry never got an email about your post, heres the answer, only a month later lol.

The only thing you need to change from your diagram is the addition of a power lead from the dome lights and 2 diodes.

Mustang need a quick hint....

Mustang love the work. I have a quick question though. I just want the option of being able to turn the lights on/off with a switch whether the vehicle is off/on or doors open/closed. I tied into the constant 12v in the radio harness, grounded the switch and boards, but keep blowing the 20amp fuse under steering wheel. Do i need a fuse or diode between the switch and radio constant? Im a little confused. If you could jot me a diagram i would be in debt forever thanks. BTW you have a talent and should think about mass producing for ebay or the forum, keep up the knowledge Thanks Izzy :salute:

ivegot my leds but am not very wire savey! ive got them hooked to the on/off switch but dont know where to wire the on/off switch for power. please tell me or if you could show me in a picture which wire you taped into for power. you can email me at thanks a lot.

I just read that you can just tap into the cig lighter! Is that tru? I get alittle intimadated when it comes to wires...

You can tap anywhere there is power. the source will just depend on when the lights come on/are able to come on. a lot of people i believe tap the interior (dome) lights so they come on when the doors open. You can tap the cigarette lighter, but you would have to have a switch because that is a constant hot source. all of mine are tapped off the dome light so when i open a door they all pop on. but you could tap a fuse in the fuse box for say your headlights or your ignition so that you can have them on whenever the lights are on but they will turn off when the lights get turned off so you don't drain your battery.

Hope i didn't confuse you anymore, haha. good luck
Justin

Tap into the cig lighter, that way you can turn them on whenever you want.

also you should remove your email address from your post because a spambot will find it and plaster you with spam.

Oh sorry, I put the wrong diagram, I meant if I wire it just to the Constant 12V source to switch to the lights? Not going to bother with the Dome Light, I figure I will want them on lots haha =)

I found some LED's at Autozone. They are Pilot Glo-Pods. I believe they are typically marketed to light up motorcycle engines. The lights came with 2 pods of 2x3 LED's. The blister pack has a little button and a battery pack so you can see how nice they look.
1. Cut off the demo battery pack and tin the wires.
2. Splice the red to power source. I installed these lights while I was doing the brown wire mod so I chose the radio light wire. I believe it was lt. blue with red stripe. My radio still had the wiring diagram on the back.
3. Attatch the black to a ground.

Mine come on with the dash lights and are controlled by the panel dimmer control.
Total cost was $15 for the lights and two blue EZ wire splices and maybe 1/2 hour.
This is a bad picture from my cellphone before the sun was all the down, the lights are perfect.
