2000 Eddie Bauer
Howdy...I have recently enrolled as a new member for the following reason, my son has a 2000 Eddie Bauer Explorer and the lower ball joints in very bad shape. He has been layed off and the quote the shop layed on him was way too much so he decided to give his dad a shot and I agreed to help him out with my shop, tools, etc. He got ahold of a Haynes manual and right off the bat I read that on 1995 and later Explorers the upper and lower ball joints cannot be repaired or replaced, the manual states you must replace the entire upper or lower control arm. Can anyone enlighten me, this seems rather extreme for something as relatively simple as ball joints.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Welcome to this forum! What is the shops hourly labor rate, and cost of the parts (break down of both amounts)? The ball joints on my vans are one piece from the dealer, but Autozone sells them individually for a lot less money. It requires a little bit of work to drill out the rivets.

welcome
