Is anybody using E85?

Anybody here running E85? Is it worth it to save a little at the pump or is the fuel mileage so bad I'm better off with the normal fossil fuels?

i loose about 2 to 2.5 mpg on e85 to find out if it is worth it divide your mpg into the cost per gallon mine runs about 19 cents per mile for both

i might have read somewhere that e85 may tear up components in the fuel system, any truth to this?

I see no point in using it where I'm at. It's the same price or more than regular gas (where I'm at) and makes your engine less efficient (less MPG), at the expense of slightly less emissions. No thanks..

Also, my Altima recommends premium (3.5 V6) so I don't think it'll like e85 too much, heh.

i think the octane ratings of e85 are somewhere around 110. also i'm in the oilfield so id feel kinda funny about not burning good ole gasoline.

I use E-85 whenever it is more than 1$ less than regular (where available). gas is about 2.50-3$ here. E-85 is usually quite a bit less.

I have not noticed a major performance decrease. possibly slight but not more than 30% which is the price difference.

It runs fine. I do wonder if it does any damage to my system. My car studders at idle with pure premium. probably just tuning but nonetheless it runs better on E-85 or regular than premium.
does anyone know E-85 causes damage?

Ive done tones of hrs of research on e85 and this is some(most important) that Ive found. ffv (flex fuel vehicles) can run e85 str8 from factory. but just because you don't have a ffv doesn't necessarily mean you cant run it. their are kits out their for converting ur vehicle to run on e85. the easiest way is if you have a sct or other tuner. just ask for a tune with e85. ive herd tuners say if you dont have it tuned or its not a ffv that ur ecm tries to run lean with e85(hens the poor mpg) and can be bad, (duhh) and for the fuel lines, e85 has alcohol, wich remember eats rubber. and if you have rubber gas lines(non ffv vehicles) the lines will be eaten by it. the high octane lever is also a good thing and increases power, but that can be noticed would be with like turbo or sc, any ways those need high octane such as premium or this case e85. i personally run on e85 on ma ffv st, and have purchased a tune from vmp with e85. hope this helps.

I run 50/50 E85 and premium in my 4.0 Explorer -97
No problems at all...
Just save me a lot of money.
Premium here in Sweden is today $2/liter = $7.57/Gallon
E85 $1.50/liter

I run it in the FFV Explorer and in my GAS ONLY Focus.
Over 130K on the clock, been running E85 (straight and mixed at various ratios) since the warranty ran out 70K ago. Not a single problem, no issues, no regrets.
Ford's E85 strategies on the FFV Ex's are OK, but there is a LOT of room for improvement. Focus picked up 6 HP with nothing more than swapping fuel and the flash.
Don't buy the lies, use GOOD fuel and E85 from REPUTABLE pumps and there won't be issues. Use cheap gas and the E85 will pull all the moisture out of it, separate the alcohol from suspension and mess up your day.
I start with small doses (10%, 15%, 20%) and increase until I trip a CEL (~22% Alcohol) and then go straight E85 - that way the water is all burned out.
