quik, it is possible but has been dtermined too much work, effort, and $ involved to do.... doing the 5.0 swap is actually easier... the sohc and ohv do not have the same computer or running equipment....

Well the SOHC conversion (in theory) is a little easier then the 5.0L converison. It's just scarier because nobody has done it.

The SOHC 4.0L and the OHV 4.0L at least share the same block, size, and basic underhood layout, makingg it that much easier to drop in then the 5.0L.

I'mworking on a way to adapt my A4LD (custom built) to a 97-98 SOHC. The problem is the A4LD 3-4 shift and convertor lock up are controlled by the EEC-IV computer. If the SOHC tranny controlls can be adapter I may attemt this conversion.

Can you imagine? A SOHC in a BII? hehehehe.......talk about a monster....

Actually it may be tricker then I thought. The SOHC will not exactly "fit" with the I beams and the frame rails.....

the heads are wider then the OHV 4.0L and the exahust manifolds would point right at the frame....

More research is needed......Of course it can be done, hell a 351 will go in there if you make it.......

Yes it is possible. It is simply VERY expensive.
