a friend of mine was goin through a parking lot with his subs going pretty loud, and a cop came up and stopped his car. said he could thorugh him in jail and all this jibberish about how he could get a ticket. somethin about is he could hear it 50 ft (or yards) whichever one. then the cop said somethin about how subs are illegal. which i found very odd. now is this actuallt true, or is the just some cop BS?

the subwoofers are not illegal, but maybe the volume they were being played at was. most likely the cop would just give him a warning, but after a couple warnings he would get a ticket. they could even confiscate his stereo, but that's rare.

A friend of mine got TWO noise violation tickets because of the 50 yard rule. He also has a convertible and he got caught once by a bike cop. So, it's usually a good idea to turn it down when you see cops. Also, turn it OFF in public parks!!!!!!

Has anyone wired a radar detector to turn down the system when it senses a cop? I was thinking how cool it would be, pobably more work than anything...Good for laughs tho!

Not only would this be good because you don't want to get ticketed for a noise violation but also so you could hear your radar detector. I have a friend who was playing his music kind of loud one day and his radar detector was going crazy and he didn't even hear it. Got a ticket for 73 in a 45, really defeats the purpose. Definetely a good idea.

thats why i have my radar detector at a level that i can hear it over the music.

Turning it up makes sense! But to previous posts... for 4years of my life, I've pounded my music while rollin... and sure when in big public scenes, I pound like hell... go deaf... but ****, get the attention! But as fer crusing, and ****, really, there isn't much of a need fer constant poundin and disregard for others.... etc
