Here is the story. My 92, lifted 2" needed new lower ball joints. So I take it to Goodyear/Gemini to get it fixed and aligned. It's all fine till I get a call saying I need new camber cams. The tech says they are maxed out. Now had I not bought a 2" drop bracket and stuck that on, this would not be an issue. I could have sworn that by placing a 2" spacer under the spring, and then pushing the piviot point down 2" that this would maintain stock geometry down there. Am I missing something? Why would the stock cams be maxed out if there was stock geometry? Or am I being taken for a ride?

alignment cams may be required, stock cams are for stock suspension.

Also 2" drop brackets may acutally have a 1" drop, they are not all the same.
The max correction available for a 4x4 is 2.75, for a 2wd its 3.5
Any good alingment shop should be able to get and install the cams you need.

The shop is talking about these bushings that go under the cams. Should I just suguest new cams?

bushings under the camber shims? Um no.
Your 92 with beams uses camber shims on the upper ball joint. There are no shims to go under or around or anything, just different degrees of cams, up to 2.75 or 3.5 correction.

What is your camber number? +2 degrees or what?

I dont see why youd think you were being takin for a ride, i think i paid 6$ for my new shims, and they are really easy to install/uninstall, so they couldnt ask for much to do this. How much are they asking to put new ones in?

I would tell them to align it the closest to specs they can get with the current setup. It will be close enough.

They're asking for like $200. And they're are talking about this sleeve that goes over or underneath the cam, he is kind of vauge. I no longer care about cost. I just want the damn car to go straight. Actualy, I want people to stop finding stuff that's wrong with my car.

a 92 is going to have some issues man its 14 years old.
I have never heard of a sleeve for a camber shim, it should not be needed, the cam is designed to fit in the knuckle, over the stud for the upper ball joint. Once it is adjusted (rotated to correct camber) it is held solid with a pinch bolt that compresses the knuckle around it.

There are pictures on this site.
$200 is WAY too much for a 2wheel alignment,
If they provide the shims and get it all set straight then more like $100-125 IMO

I talked the tech down to $150. I'll take a look when I get the car back too see what manner of witchcraft was preformed on my truck.

sounds like you might own the shop soon

take pics - post em up

if it is witchcraft call a lawyer
