ok guys

i was planning to lock front and rear of my explorer and put 31" after TT and shackles.

i read around here that if i lock the rear the front is not going to act like an open differential any more. in other words when the rear is locked not 100% of the power in the front axle goes only in 1 wheel each time.

if that is truth then i may just lock the rear because i will have enought traction from the front anyways.

please let me know your thoughts.

Lock the rear first.

If at a later point you feel you need a front locker, then you can add the front locker.

thanks izwack for been helpfull again.

is what i read about the front truth or is going to act as an open differential?

just curious

Locking one axle is not going to have any affect whatsoever on the other.

A front locker is not ideal if for on road driving, go with the rear first.

if i had the extra money i was going tp lock the front axle also because i have a 96 explorer with the true 2wd so when is 2wd the front differential acts as an open.

Locking the rear axle will have absolutely NO effect on the front axle. If someone posted that it did, they are dead wrong.

if you are locked in the rear with open front you have 3wd..the rear is totally independnt of the front...
