Mileage????

check all the car books and see what they are going for in your area.
If you have cash, I would def offer lower and let him know you have CASH!

I bought a 01 for $500 knowing it needed another $1200 in repairs, well now i'm in it almost $2500 in repairs:(. You get what you pay for

It has almost 210,000 miles on it. It has had over $6500 in repairs done to it in just the last couple years. It runs excellent. No problems at all with running and driving. just high miles and rust on rockers and a little above rear wheel wells.

seller is asking WAY too much.

I can get a newer 5.0 explorer for LESS then that. Hell, I only paid 1000$ for my 97 mountaineer and it needs maybe $500 in repairs (blend door actuator, blower resistor, minor front end work) and it only has 180K on it with no rust.

Thats a 1000 to 1200 dollar vehicle.

I agree- a 200k+ OHV with a green stripped interior and a manual trans is a $1,000 Ex.

I have the exact year, exact color, but mine is fully loaded with options like leather, V8, sunroof, sound system etc. It's my first car. My parents bought it for me last month with 110,000 miles for $3800

Bought my 97 Mountaineer AWD w/ leather and roof with 129K for $2K

Damn I feel ripped off now. My 95 X with 222k miles (when i bought it 224k now), a4ld auto, 4x4 xlt, was $2k :(

Everything here is expensive though lmao

EDIT: If you talk the seller down, wanna trade? xDD

I dont think the price is THAT bad. I actually like the idea of the manual trans, just means it won't crap out like the 4 speed auto and you'll get slightly better mileage (if you can drive it right)

I'd say see if you can talk him to 1800

Ok thank you for all your opinions.
I have also found a truck that I wouldnt mind haveing. Here it is. It only has a couple maybe quarter size rust spots on front fenders. It also has the gear vendor on the transmission.
I have it down to around $2000

Do you think this is a good buy?

I bought my '01 5.0 AWD with 127k back in October from a new car dealership for $2477 and all it needed was a windshield. The deals are out there. Even after the cash for clunkers crap, there are still a lot of Explorers on the market.
