how to roof your vette:

well, the inside of it anyway...

been laying the peel & seal (poor man's dynomat) for an hour or two at a time for a couple of days now, finally done with the hatch area....

haven't driven it like this yet, but when I had the interior stripped out it was rediculously loud inside, not just the exhaust note but the tire noise at 80mph was fvcking LOUD....

damn, this thing really is made out of fiberglass:

next up is the front, but it will be easy since 95% of it is nice, flat surfaces... :D

I have been looking at www.fatmat.com for an alternative to dynamat.

ok the 100sq ft roll of fatmat is 99.99 how much is the peel&seal?

I used B-Quiet on my truck. Seemed to be very comparable to Dynamat

Ditto. He's selling on eBay now as well. SUPERB customer service.

I lined my Sport with it. After a few weeks the tar smell went away. I noticed a little difference. But it was a pain to put in. I would recomend getting something with a little more adhesive on the back.

with which? the b-quiet? , the peel&seal? or , fatmat

Peel and Seal, sorry, should've specified.

Oh ok thanks =) i think Im gunna order the fatmat 100sqft for 99.99 should be plenty to do what i want.

haha cant imagine it would have much effect...let us know ;)

I've wondered how would it work if you were to use duct tape line the inside?

You would have to use a dozen or so layers just to have any effect and doing so would be extremely tedious and laborious. Even then, the end result would very likely not have anywhere near the same vibration damping properties as Dynamat and the like.

In my old X I used 1/4" urathane foam from home depot. I saw an Impala do this and he had all kinds of SQ awards. I just used it in the back half and I seemed to work well. I had dynamate super under all the door panels and firewall.

I just thought I would throw that out there. I was just trying to find the 1002 use for duct tape. :D

Is that like the craft foam the comes in sheets and different colors just a thicker version and in a big roll or something?

i deadened my truck with an aluminized tape.

everyone will say it wouldn't work. they'd change their minds if they heard mine. i can be hitting 150 dbs inside with no rattles from the outside and very, very little sound in general outside. turn it up and get out and listen and there is NOTHING, open the door and it feels like you just turned on a hurricane machine.

i used about 4 rolls of the tape. each roll is 13.99 at home depot, you do the math. i have about 2 layers everywhere, maybe a bit more.

I used Ice & Water Gard, (yes, it was spelled that way)... Kinda like "peel & seal". I got it from a housing contractor for $40/100 sq. feet. Worked great!

I would NOT use craft foam. I did in an older car, if it gets wet or damp it will mold and stink really bad.

I've got RoadKill by Stinger. It is not very sticky for the my trunk lid in my car, otherwise it worked good. I probably should have cleaned the trunk lid better before applying it. I used a 2" wide wooden roller, that helped out a lot.

I did both sides of the door where the speaker mounts and the far inside of the door to get 3 separate layers.

They also sell a sticky foam for rattles, I've got some but haven't installed it yet.
