whenever i shift from park to reverse to drive or watever i engage the transmission in i get a big clunk like metal to metal... wat might it be?

if you hear a clunk it may be your u-joint in the rear driveshaft.
 






grease the slip joint...

so u think it may be the u joint that connects the ds with the rear end? imma start lookin for one...

grease the slip joint...

so just take that dust boot off and grease the hell out of it?
 






On the slip yoke there should be a grease fitting on it. You can not remove the boot while the drive shaft is on the truck and it's not a good idea to remove it anyway.
 






there is no grease fitting on the driveshaft slip yoke

You have to remove the driveshaft from the truck
slide the boot out of the way
mark the two pieces of the driveshaft
pull them apart
clean the inside of the female part
clean the splines on the male part

lube the splines with bearing grease
put the two pieces back together with the mark lined up
slide the boot back into position
re-install d shaft
