You will see in different forums and websites they list Explorers by generations but leave Explorer Sports out of Specific details namely 2001 to 2005 versions. These are different from the regular Explorers built from 2002 up. It is hard to find specific info on these models. I read where in 2002 the Explorers where outfitted with Dana Super 30 SLA front axles. I can't find anywhere what the Sport version was fitted with. Help

The 01-03 Sport has EXACTLY the same front end as the 2001-2005 Sport Trac .....NO difference.
They are totally different from the regular 4-door Explorer.

Difference between Sport/ Sport Trac Grille?

Be aware the early build 2001 Sport Trac had a different 4.0L SOHC configuration known as the Job 1 engine.
Job 2 engine oil fill is on the passenger side, plastic intake and throttle body, different PVC system, oil filter, etc.

IMHO, I think those which have an Explorer Sport (I have an 2003 Sport) belong in the 2001-2005 Sport Trac forum. That is where I look for specific information and if I can't find it there, then I go to the 1995-2001 Explorer Ranger Mountaineer general information. As others have stated in the past, "The 2001-2003 Explorer Sport is identical from the front bumper to the B pillar, as the 2001-2005 Explorer Sport Trac." Although the 2001-2003 Sport is very similar to the 2nd generation Explorers, you get more exact info from the mentioned Sport Trac forum every time. The Ford repair manuals group the Explorer Sport with the Sport Trac from 2001-2003.
