There are several other pics of the same jeep (on that site) being dragged out. They didn't bother to pull him out backwards they pulled him strait into the water and across it. In some of the other pics it looks like it's floating.

So it's not only jeep guys screwin up.... I guess it's posisble to explorers as well, which is hard to believe, since they're such amazing trucks!

A touron... that's too funny.
I saw several of those attempting to 4wheel at Nags Head. Most thought they were 4WD or wannabes that got caught at the entrance and had to be towed back to the road.
I think I'll dub that entrance the touron filter after reading this thread.

Thats quite a good term for it. All jeeps get stuck at that entrance. The last time I wheeled out there all the late model jeeps were stuck and thats not an exaggeration. I just drove on by and waved and laughed.

I visit OBX twice a year - spring and fall. Saw a Surburban wallowing like a beached whale in the sand trying to get off the beach just south of the Nags Head Pier. Saw several Jimmy/Bravada types stuck trying to get to the surf at Ramp 4 (Oregon Inlet).

If these guys would just read up on how to sand drive, maybe they'd be OK. Or keep a tide chart with them.

BTW, my avatar was taken at the beach gate at the NC/VA border.

how are you going to tow me home without an engine in that exploder? Dont worry, got a 99 F-250 Super Duty for towing purposes up to tellico and back.

My preferance isn't necessarily for Jeeps, but mostly vehicles with solid axles, and the capability of being something decent.
