hey guys its been a while since ive been active in the forums, most probably dont remember me so ill post a pic of my ex for sh!ts n' giggles :p: im gettin back into moddin my X so my question is about throttle body stuff. I did some searchin and some say that the "throttle body spacers" are worthless but i guess the LARGER throttle bodys are the way to go. My question is what is the difference between a throttle body spacer and i guess an upgraded LARGER throttle body? im not mechanically inclined so be gentle

TB spacers only ad a few CC's to the intake plenum volume.....it's a trick that drag racers use on their Carburated or TBI cars, but it doesn't work on our direct port injected vehicles.

The Larger TB IS beneficial to a point, as it allows you to fill up the same intake plenum a little faster, making the motor more efficient. The more efficient, the more power it can make.

Which motor do you have? 5.0L, 4.0L OHV, or 4.0L SOHC?

i believe its the 4.0 sohc

bump...is adding the larger TB noticeable? i mean for instance is it like the equivalnt to adding a K&N filter as far as gains?

Before you go to the expense of a new throttle body, you would get more bang for your buck going with a good cat-back exhaust system or a full engine back exhaust...The return on investment for a new throttle body isn't much.

ive been thinking about exaust for a while, whats the closest way to getting a v8 sound from a v6?

Put a V8 in....

You won't get a V-6 to sound like a V-8. The combination of # of cylinders, displacement, bore and stroke makes it not possible. You can get some nice sounding exhausts for the V-6 Explorer, but it will always sound different than a V-8. There are a bunch of threads here on various exhausts. I used to have a Flowmaster cat back on my old '92 X that sounded pretty decent.
