Does anyone else have problems with the lid on the Rear Jack compartment coming off on a consistent basis? I lock it using those things and it still wiggles loose. Any ideas on how to fix this problem once and for all?

Thanks
Brian

Mine has 2 latches and a few tabs that fit into the rear panel. You sure you get those tabs in correctly?

Got the same problem on my '97. Annoying as hell. I think the fix is to add small rubber band and wrap it around the black piece that is already there. That might just work.

My 01 has the same problem. Dealer has replaced the latches twice, but it still opens on it's own. Real PITA!

I had the same problem on my 2000 that I just picked up from the dealer on Sunday. One of the 2 knobs that hold it in had a tab broken off. They popped on out of another Explorer and problem fixed! :D

my 93 did the same till i removed the lug wrench from the panel. the extra weight made it come off all the time.

Never had that problem with my 2000, but I did have to put a little felt around the " lower the spare tire thingie " it was viberating ya know.

I have a little custom fit piece of soft side velcro on mine, it doesn't actually velcro but makes it fit more snug.

I have that problem too. Only its only the front one. So the still stays in place. But the front sticks out and drives me crazy b/c I like everything to be perfect:rolleyes:

I did the same thing. Since the wrench has been gone, that lid has stayed put!

The bottom of that panel is cracked on mine. I gave up... that peice of panel is like 3/4 of the left side, so I'm sure its $$$$ to replace, so I dont even try to cover it anymore... I just took the entire cover out :fire:
