Hey everyone! Oki have a97 Exp XLT. Does anyone know where i can find the piece that supposedly goes onto the jack handle that you use to lower the spare tire? You know there is a slot right above where the license plate is and the piece i had that goes onto the handle broke off for some reason.I can't replace my spare tire unless i have this piece that fits into the slot that allows you to turn it either clockwise or counter. Please help me to find one. Thanks!

Ok so do you mean that ANY ford vehicle that you have to turn in the slot to raise or lower has the piece i am lookin for?

How did the piece break and where is it now?

In an emergency, try using the blade end of your lug wrench.

Its the jack handle/crank that you use to lower the spare tire. Most Ford (trucks at least) have the same device to lower the spare.

I think the previous owners had somehow gotten it loose and them whe i went to use it it just fell off like it had already been loose.

It is meant to fit the lug wrench. In fact, the hole is the exact size to hold it.

The piece your looking for, on my 1997 EB x is located behind rear seats. Just lay them flat and then lift the flat cover piece.

I have tried using the blad end of the lug wrench but it isn't working.A guy i work with hasd a explorer also and his seems to fit but it won't turn and raise or lower the cable for the spare tire. Anyone have any more ideas?
