I was given this head unit for temporary use. I connected the wiring harness as best I can and I heard nothing, not even a hiss. I have 93 Limited with premium system. I also noticed that the Jennsen had RCA plugs for the amp and not amp wire for power. Is there any way I can rig it to work with the amp for know

Thanks :frustrate

the problem is you have an ampilfied system factory... and without the amp turn on, you wont get any music out of your stereo.... im sure the head unit has a power ant remote turn on or an amp turn on... wire the stock amp turn on to that...

Actually tried that but it didnt seem to do anything. Is there a button I have to hit when it powers up. It doesnt have anything listed for the amp I will try again in the morning but I assumed that. :banghead:

Tried as instructed and nothing. The radio powers up, stereo sound indicator come up when we lock into a station and the cd plays but no sound. Actually looked at the factiory harnes and cant even pinpoint the Amp Turn on wire. IT has a sticker on the harness that doesnt state which it is.

are you sure you got the right wire harness...if you didn't the headunit will power on but you will get no sound similiar to your problem..if not check to make sure that the unit is powered on by pressing either the power or source button, raise the volume, and check to see if the unit is in mute mode, if those don't work its either the head unit or your wire harness..you can simply run a wire from the back of the head unit to a speaker if you have one and that will tell you if its your head unit or if its your wire harness too

the harness I purchased was a DB+Link FDP5511 Fits ford premium sound system/Amplifier Integrator system. There was anther model but said 95+ premium system even though it looks like it fits

does it fit your year and model...you will probably need to ask a local car audio shop...most places will have 95 and up explorers because they are so popular but they might not have your year and model so you might need to special order it...so you have two options you can either talk to your local audio shop or you can run new wires from your headunit to your door speakers which if your adding in amps and new speakers you might want to do anyway

Yes the harness states it fits 86 to 94 Premium Sound system Ford. Actually I actually took the wiring diagram and the label left me wondering which would trigger the amp.

1. Blue-Mute
2. No Wire
3. Grn/Blk - Radio Ground
4. No Wire (but claims that it should be Org/blk - Radio Display)
5. LtBlue / Red - Illumination
6. Yellow/Blk - Power
7. Blk - Chasis Ground
8. LtGR/Yell - Memory Feed.

This was taken off the lable on the Factory harness. So I was able to match most up but do not exactly know which would be the AMP switch.

I think for most of the Explorers there are two pig tails. The amp kick on should be on the other pig tail if memory serves.

I thought the second pigtail is the speaker set up from the amp. The Harness marks that one as so.

ok, i found another forum which had me put the power antenna to the mute and it worked for this person. But it didnt for me :banghead: Anyone else have any suggestions, short of buying a new hu :fire:

Make sure you have every blue wire connected together. I had that problem, No blue wire is mute. I dunno what that came from.

If you look on the sticker on the Faxtory Harness. The grey one that is flat it says the final blue wire is the mute wire. I think I listed them above as the sticker claims.

i have a 94. There is no mute dude im serius. Connect all the blue's it may work. Blue is power attenna.

ok Ill try anything at this point. I know the blue on the head unit is power attena. and on the Wiring harness its power attena, but as for ford on their premium sticker its mute. Who knows. I'll keep humming in the car until I figure it out.

Yeah i had premium to, I had all the blue wires connected. And when they come loose the factory amp wont come on so you wont here anything.

*sigh* tried the blue option, nothing. I was tempted to put the last blue wire on the harness and jump it to the power wire but was afraid to blow the amp. I am out of options. :burnout:

I remember to turn on my sub amp i use to just connect the remote to the 12volt supply on the amp. Not sure if it would work on a factory amp though. Did you check all the fuses on the deck?
