Just Bought A 98 XLT v8 2wd- looking to mod

New Member here, Just got the ride. Now looking to make her faster.

Here is what I plan, TM headers, F303 cam, intake edelbrock, tfs heads, bbk throttle body, 24# injectors, MAS upgrade, Chip, A/c delete, T-5 tranny, 4:10gears... much more of course

I want to know if anyone else has similiar setup and what pros and cons may be.

The tranny is a problem, the computer is integrated for both the engine and trans. It may take some work to make the computer happy without the auto trans.

Other than that, sounds like a good plan. Post some pictures of your work!

I am anxious to see the results, plan sounds good to me.
Maybe step to 30# injectors??

There are a few small issues with the Edelbrock style intake--egr-air tube, and throttle cable angles all change, but it is doable. I did it.

Do you know how to bypass or trick the ecu? I probably would need a custom chip?

A chip or flasher with custom tune will take care of turning your auto tranny functions off. Not big problem at all.

the original TFS heads, I doubt many are still around had valve guide problems, will the F cam clear on stock pistons? What piston head design do these use, do they have valve releifs or are they similar to the 86 or so? flat top mustang style?

I havn't heard any good things about BBK so you might want to go with someone else.

Your custom tuner will be able to make this happen. There will be plenty of control over the trans and I don't feel that this will be a problem at all.
