Just got some bad news

I was like most when the thought of an automatic trans was some sort of space alien tech if not voodoo skill understandings. Then I found out those things ain't very hard to rebuild and parts are easy to get. The guys who want to charge you $3000 are basically making about $2500 in labor. It's all about replacing parts with no machine shop bills like with engines. Personally, the smell of tranny fluid makes me sick, but it's not as hard as everyone seems to make it.

This is probably one of a few forums we can bad mouth trannys and not get banned or cancelled....lol?

Well I would go that route but don't really want to piss of the city lol.

I remember back in 02, our 5R55e went bonkers. It was new still under warranty and Ford replaced or rebuilt it...not sure what they lied to us about but it still works to this day. Anyway, I've learned these trans have a glitch and there are many-many kits to fix em. FordTmakalocoBrian guy on YT-vids shows the symtoms fix and parts. Gary Ferraro from YT-vids shows teardown etc...I really like that guy.

HOA is a dirty word. An unregulated legislative body on a constant power trip. I owed a place with an HOA once, never again. I'd live in my car over having an HOA.

I rented a room from a buddy in a HOA. He was fined $75 one night for leaving his hose reel hooked up to the hose bib overnight.

I do landscaping and auto detailing and trust me I've had my fair share of asshat HOA people and you'd be surprised just how petty they can be.

id lean to the 01 v8 or the 96 (manual?) since the 3rd gen 4.6 came with the 5r55w, and id choose the 4r70w over the 5r55w plus 02 is IRS. 5.0 just as reliable engine and the 4r70w is much more HD than 5r55w ohv and 5.0 both very reliable and good choices, just a matter of stick vs auto and imo the 5.0 got way more guts than th eohv lol no offense ot the ohv guys

Lol btw we don't live an hoa just saying city probably wouldn't be to happy if I stained up the sidewalks or if while dropping the trannie I make a big pot hole lol.
