I went to put my 98 sport 4x4 auto in reverse and herd a loud bang and have no reverse. only drive works, eailer today my shifter felt funny such as the white line was of on the gear selector, and now it still feels funny everything looks ok from undernieth ...please help

Does manual 1st gear work OK? How about the 4WD? Is it working properly?

yes everything works except reverse

Check the shift rail & shift fork in the transfer case. Check the low/reverse servo & band in the transmission.

how do you check the shift forrk and rail in tc and how will i know if its the bands?
