I bought my 2002 Explorer XLT (90,000 on it) in May of this year (2010) and have finally gotten around to starting modifying it :)

I am really excited to get my hands dirty with it and hope you all watch along the way as I make this truck look even better!

I will update photos as I mod the truck.

Say goodbye to those ugly running boards!!!! and painted the hitch receiver with black "Rustoleum" spray paint, also alongside the whole frame to give it a cleaner look after removing running boards.

Also had new sway bar arm bushings installed this past week to fix the squeaking noise in the front end when going over bumps.

Other mods coming soon: Installing either a full grille guard or just a bull bar with fog lights (black finish, NOT CHROME!---probably going with just the bull bar), installing bug deflector on the hood and window visors(maybe)...what do you all think? Window Visors make the truck look better or no?
Hopefully will be able to put a small lift in it just to raise it up a bit.

Thanks for viewing and leave feedback!!!!!

What did you do with your running boards? I've been looking for that style for a while now....

Have them behind in the garage, was maybe going to put them up on craigslist. Only thing I don't have for them are the bolts. I haven't figured out how to get them out yet..... I took off the running boards and the bolts that go through the body where the bottom of the body loops backs up underneath are still in there. I tried to lightly tap them out but there is some odd brace holding them in place? Not sure if that's how ford installed them? The running boards are in great condition still. I'm sure they would be mountable with other bolts. I could send you pictures of how the bolts are still on the truck if you would like. Kind of hard to explain.
