I think that you should go with MTX, I just bought myself an MTX amp for a little over $200 and its rated at 400x1 @ 4 ohm. Not too bad, seing as the wattage is something like 100x2 @ 4 ohm. What model MTX are you looking at?? I am geting the RT2200x.

is the MTX one of the new ones with the red LED? the mtx is certainly better. the rated power on the box or in a catalogue is underated. MTX amps give you a certificate that states the REAL power it puts out. this is for competing, so that a competitor can say the amp is only 400 watts, when its really 500 or whatever.

I am glad to see that you are looking at the MTX. Definately, MTX over Kenwood. The MTX are some of the toughest built amplifiers out there. I have heard people trying to get them shut off by subjecting them to loads that are far above their ratings and they just don't quit. They don't give up. I don't know what your final decision was on your sub, (pioneer I think?) but have you looked into the MTX subs as well. The subs are just as high quality as the amps and hit hard and deep. I had them in one of my trucks (before they were stolen, ugh!) and I absolutely loved them. Good luck!

MTX amps are built stronger than most amps. If you munt them right, they won't heat up as much as other amps. I have a MTX 2100x amp (280x1), and I bridged one 12" and two 10's into it for a little bit and it had no problem with them. My battery had a bit of a problem at stop lights though... 3 subs and fog lights pulling power off of t ran it down a bit.
Another nice feature with the MTX amps are their easy Gain and Bass controls and the crossover button are all built in and easy you operate. The MTX will definatly be the better amp.

Good luck
Chris

Hi,

what would you do with the amp-put some subs or the front-rear speaker on it?

I don't know how many people have heard of this, but Memphis amps/speakers are incredible. They're cheap too. Not as cheap as MTX or Kenwood, but Memphis has a better quality. I listened to a set of Memphis 10's hooked up so some Memphis amp and it was really loud. The amps can be purchased through http://www.tms-electronics.com I haven't found a place to buy the speakers online so the only place to buy one is a store. The 10's were going for $80 each...sounded as good as some $150 subs.

i really don't like any of these amps. But if i had to choose one i would go with the MTX.
