I went out to get something out of my truck tonight and when I went to use the key pad to get into the truck it did not light up. My guess is that the light went out. There was just enough light that I could hit the code to get it. How do I fix it so that it lights up again? How hard is it going to be to fix?

Anyone?

Someone has to know the answer. Anyone??

asked around and noboby seems to have replaced just the light, the norm is to replace the whole pad unit. as for cost of the part i couldn't get ahold of my parts dept, but i'm told labor is less than an hr of book time so replacement should be pretty simple/easy.

I had this fixed under warranty and it was a huge hassle to get them to do it. Apparently there is no bulb in there and nothing user servicable (thats why they wouldnt replace it, kept saying it was a standard wear item like a light bulb - had to get the dealer to call the warranty comapny and explain it to them)... some kind of LED strip or something and yeah, u have to replace the whole module.

Thanks for the help I guess I will have to contact my local ford parts store though in the past they have not been very helpfull.

Well I might not get this fixed right away

Just called the local ford people. I was told that there is no bulb and that they have to replace the entire thing right down to the wires. They said the part would be $108 and labor would be around $75. That is a little more than I was expecting so I guess for now this project will have to wait.
