I really like not having to pull a key from my pocket to lock/unlock the doors and start the car. Or I did until last night.

For those in warmer climes, it was ~43 degrees and drizzling at 11:30 last night here in Michigan. My folks are in town and went with me to my 10:00 soccer game. After the game, we came outside and I opened the rear hatch, dropped my bag (with my keys and wallet in it) on the floor behind the third row seat and... closed the hatch.

The range on the keys is less than the distance from behind the third row seats to the sensor.

I don't know my key-code. I will memorize it.

Lesson learned.

And I was suprised at how quickly the tow guy was able to get into the car.

Keep the phone number for ford Roadside Assistance in your cell with the keyless entry number or leave the entry number with someone else. If you don't use it often and might forget it.

Change key code to a number you will remember.
Although the cell phone idea is great! Will go do that now on both my and my wifes phones.

Fortunately I set up my key code with the one I had on my last car so I remembered it when the car wash attendant locked the leys in the car 2 weeks after I got the X. I saw them trying all of the doors and walked over and opened it for them.

Key code? Or keyless entry code?

The additional keyless entry code is much easier to set on this one from MFT than on older models.

You got it! Keyless entry code. And your right. It was sooo easy to do.

Did you try opening the rear hatch again? It should have opened with the keys right on the inside. Both front doors and rear hatch have their own sensor. The keys need to be within 3 feet of it.

Same exact thing happened to my wife yesterday. Threw her purse including keyfob in tailgate and was then totally locked out of the car. We've now programed the keypad to a number we will remember so that it won't happen again.
