Yes it does. When I set my alarm and use the keypad to get in it turns off the alarm.

That just means it disables the alarm, not PATS. They are different systems.

And here I was thinking the "Passive Anti-Theft System" included an alarm... Good to know my antitheft system doesn't have anything to do with letting me know that someone is stealing my car.. Because THAT makes sense....

So you are telling me that for no reason at all, besides me taking out the battery, the PATS activates and my key just stops working to crank the engine, and all I can do is call a lock smith or have it towed to a dealer?

Keyless entry keypad locks and unlocks your door and pops open your rear hatch glass. It also turns on/off the "alarm" (ie. honking horn). PATS is what allows your vehicle to be started if your chipped key and security module "know" each other. Lilmonster, the answer is NO.

Well my pats light is blinking rapidly and I cant find my other key but ths one cranked the car just fine.

The alarm is to secure the vehicle from entry. If someone opens a door the siren sounds.

The PATS system stops the engine from running without the proper key.

The 2 systems are completely separate systems.

Wow lots of little children here today but it's nice to see someone that knows what they are talking about chime in.

you have an 04, go to a dealer and get the pcm updated, few bugs on the 2004. this is one of them.

if you have both keys, use the other key it will work.

Well you guys I had a locksmith come out and he fixed my problem in 10min now I have to figure out why it won't turn over

your pcm needs to be reprogramed.

the pcm has an issue when it loses power, hi battery change, it forgets 1 of the two keys.
