I recently purchased a used 97 XLT from my company. No one at my company has the code for keyless keypad. Can some please help me so I can reset it. I have found some posts regarding resetting the transmitter for the keyless entry but nothing on the keypad. This is a very importent feature as im always locking my keyes in the vehical. Thanks in advance.

The keypad that's attached to the door? Code should be in the quarterpanel, driver's-side rear.

Yes the drivers side door keypad

I assume you are refering to the panel where the jack and rear window washer tank is located. I do see a small grey enclosure with a large wiring harness attached. Are you saying the perminent code is located on that somewhere? Could you please elaberate. Thanks so much for your quick response.

That grey box should have a sticker on the front of it, and in the middle of that sticker will be 5 large numbers on it. That will be your permanent code.

thanks a bunch

the box is buried behind the plastic cover but get at that baby in the morning. Thanks for all the help

I also own a 97 xlt, and is the keycode located on the broadside of the computer module? i tried that number and it didn't seem to work. also the manual says that it should be on the owners wallet card inside the glove compartment, since im the third owner, it's probably long gone by now if it really is a card that goes in your wallet.

I have actually switched these anti-theft moduals out. Those numbers are the permanent codes.

coliniscool- the previous owners may have put a custom keycode in, I'm sure someone on here knows how to reset it.

The code is permanent, you can make alternate codes (I've heard up to 3) that work along with the permanent code. I would look more twards a fault in the sysetm if the code printed on the anti theft modual dosen't work.

well the locking feature on the keypad works, so i guess its not totally shot, and the led lights in the keypad still go on. the code is a five digit code right?

you can always take it to a dealer that can hook with up to a WDS and retrieve the factory code, usully charge around 50 bucks though

well, i suppose its better than not having it at all, actually i don't really need it becuase i have a key and a remote, but its just buggin' me that i can't use this SUPER cool feature on my car. hahaha.
