I have a 2002 ford explorer xlt. Had trouble with 4 wheel drive and got bad info that said to undo battery and fuses and it would reset. Ended up being the module behind glove box. 2 minutes later that was fixed and works great. However, unplugging the battery has caused other problems. Now keyless pad and remotes don't work. Also, running lights are on even though switch if off. I have tried reprograming the remotes and keyless pad. Acts like it wants to work but won't. Don't like to give the dealer my $$ anyone have any other ideas.

Welcome to the site! :)

Thanks

Thanks for the welcomes!

We have tried numerous things to get the keyless pad and remote to work. I guess I didn't explain very well. All items were working just fine until we unhooked the battery. Then the keyless stopped working, remotes stopped working and now the lights are on for daytime driving. I was hoping someone had a "fix" for this. We are to the point of thinking that it is RAP module. It just seems strange that it would stop working at the same time.

Do you have any after market things hooked up? Alarm or remote starter?

no

No we have no aftermarket items. FYI - when we try to go through the motions of programming the keyless remotes (turn key 8 times) it unlocks and locks but nothing happens we push anything on the remotes. It seems impossible that both remotes work one day and then both their batteries are bad. Especially since all worked before disconnecting the batteries. I have tried holding down the remotes while turning 8 times, not holding down, having the doors all unlocked, not having the doors all unlocked. Nothing changes the fact that the keyless remotes don't work. Very frustrating

try http://www.the12volt.com/ they are an installer's database for stuff like this and many more. i got help with my power door lock hook up with the aftermarket alarm from them.
also try checking with the alarm manufacturer and see if they have any details on reprogramming.

keep smilin..............t

Try this: Open the driver's door and press the unlock button on the arm rest. Then try the programming routine and make sure you keep your foot off the brake.

keyless remote

keeping the door opened and unlocked did not program it either. I'll keep plugging along.

Try going to a diffrent location to program your remotes. You may find that the remotes simply wont work in some places. This is due to other transmitters in the area, ie radio transmitters, cell towers etc. There is a parking lot that my remotes will not work in at all because of a local 2 way repeater site that over powers the reciever. If you do a search here you will find some write up about this.

Try a new battery anyway, just to eliminate that as a problem.
