hey everybody. its about time to order my very own set of coilovers. i know exactly what i need on a list. but it kinda just boils down to what coilovers are better for the most part. so if yall were in my shoes would yall get f.o.a coilovers or king coilovers? money at this point is no issue.

The only real difference between the two is that FOA casts their bodies instead of machine them like KING/FOX do.. it saves them money. I'm not into metal fab/work enough to tell you which way is better/more reliable, But I do know a lot of trophy truckers use them and they seem to do pretty well..

yeah so far ive been doing a bunch of research and i just went ahead and bought kings instead just cause theyre very well known for their products so yeah. nothing against f.o.a or anything just bought kings.

Congrats on the purchase, you will really like the ride after these go on, and how it handles without the front sway bar,
go slow at first and get used to them and bump it up as you go, they will build confidence in a hurry,,

I recall seeing a thread in the Ford section on PBB where a guy bought the FOAs and was not happy with the finish at all. He returned them for some Fox c/o. Are you doing the same setup as Corkey has?

i believe he has the rcd brackets like i do, not sure if he has the superlift kit too

i purchased the rcd brackets, no superlift, stock height 2wd. and i talked to a guy over at filthyoffroad.com and he said he bought some f.o.a bumps and when he got them he said the finish looked like they were made in a garage. so thats why i just went with kings because i havent heard of one bad review about them. and corkey quick stupid question...When i install the mounts the lower bracket goes on the front of the lower a arm correct? i got all the hardware and everything but NO directions haha i know somebody is gonna say...."real men dont need directions" haha but i just want to make sure everything is in the right place.... as of right now i see a bunch of bolts and nuts and am stumped about where they go.

okay, photos are the best way,
top mount,

bottom mount, on the back of the lower a arm,

full length shot, with snow,,

don't forget there has to be side gussets welded in to support the upper mount inside the stock shock pocket,,

sweet ok so on the back of the a arm. check. i always get that confused. now as far as where bolts go did you just kinda know where they went? and when you put the lower mounts on do you go off of the original shock mount also?

taken from under the a arm in -10 weather,, brrrrr, forgive the snow,,

so it does! which holes did you have to drill? i take it that they were the ones on the very back of the a arms? man i apologize for you having to do all this! your a trooper!

the best way is take the shock off put the bracket on line up the holes that exist and mark the rest , and drill away on the others , one on top of the arm and 1 on the side had to be drilled ,

sweet. ok. and there should be absolutely NO play in the coilovers once they are in the brackets correct? cause the width of the coilover is an inch and a half and the mount is 1.57"s. so for the most part im good?

correct, if there is that little amount of play it will be taken out when the bolts are tightened,,

wear safety glasses when drilling or grinding ,
make sure all the bolts match the holes and have the right washers,,

great. what about with the torsion bars when removing them. any problems? can i take them off without taking the a arms off of the truck like you did or should i take that route?

we took mine off before we did anything else, in the front,,

i used a bottle jack and a long socket to lift the weight off the t bar adjuster and than let it down real slow, after removing the bolt and the bolt through holder from the mount at the back of the t bar, the thing that holds the adjuster bolt is kind of d shaped, and runs though the 2 dies of the back mount,

the socket goes up through and pushes up on the torsion key ,

be very careful at this point, make sure the front is very securew on stands, and do 1 side at a a time, real slow like, ,
