kkm, How to remove intake tube??

I have recently installed my new KKM, unfourtunatly after i installed it we got hit by this heat wave, 2 weeks of 90+ "hot for maryland". Anyways, i wanted to add a "Ram air" type tube to allow it to breath cooler air, but when i when to remove the tube that went from the original airbox, to the grill i noticed that it had another tube connected to it, then looks like i attaches to the engine somewhere, i couldn't get a real good look but its about 1 maybe 1.5" inches in diameter its a short silver tube. Can i remove this? what is it? For those who have the ram air what did u do. Thank you

Yes you can remove this tube. The tube was part of the heat riser which you do not use anymore b/c you removed your old airbox setup.

Just caution to the wind though....some believe that removing the heat risor tubing may cause you to fail any emission testings. I will actually have to replace my original airbox for my next emission test. I would hate to have to replace the tubing as well. Too much of a PIA for me. If you don't have those tests than feel free to gut her...lol

can the heat actually make the kkm give you worse performance than the stock filter or something? that seems to be a major problem to a lot of the users, the heat.. and its like.. 90+ here every day right now.. it wont cool off until mid september

No...the heat will not give you less performance than stock. I just read in a thread today by Grant (fantasymon) where he asked about that.

A reply was given by someone who ran computer tests on his during normal weather and during 100+ weather. It ran better during the cooler air months but it did not perform less than the stock set-up when it was during the extreme heat times.

glad ta hear it! when I think about it.. even with the stock filter my engine performs better cold.. I have problems during the day starting off from redlights.. hell I've been beaten off the line by a dump truck before.. but at night that seems to go away, hopefully this will exagerate that at night and make it even better.

So i can just remove the tube from the intake tube, do i remove it from wherever it attaches to and just leave a hole? what happens if i plug up the heat riser and this tube, i know the heat riser allows warm air into the stock intake untill the engine is warm, but it creates an annoying whisiling sound now when i accelerate untill it is warm. Can i plug theese up? One more quicke i went to remove the front grill for better access, i removed the screws on the top, but it wouldn't come out. Im assuming there are snap in clips somewhere, just cant find them.
