I've had an intermittent check engine light, and it always comes up with knock sensor fault. It runs perfect, so at my mileage of 75k I'm not suspecting plugs or coils yet.

Has anyone else replaced the knock sensor, and if so was it a stupid complicated job? It looks like a simple part to swap, I just can't really find where it's located.

No one? I found some info online that there was a TSB for the wire chafing on the cylinder head. I couldnt see any bare wire, but I found where it could maybe be rubbing and wrapped it in electrical tape. It looks like a PITA to replace if the sensor is bad, since its buried underneath all the tubing on the top of the engine. This guy had a helpful video showing where its at.

Are you getting a code?

If you are running original plugs, it's possible they are getting worn.
I think recommended change interval is 60k miles.
I'm not up to speed on knock sensors, but I wonder if there's a way to test the sensor with a multimeter.

Yes, original plugs so I suppose they could need replacement. Normal service is 100k for plugs and its running very good, no hesitation or poor mileage.

I'm sure I could test the sensor, but if I have to tear apart everything I'm putting a new one in regardless. Its only like $50, but a PITA to get to.

Update to this. Wrapped electrical tape around the wires where they could have been rubbing on the cylinder head and the CEL hasnt come back on. We went on a road trip over spring break and put on like 1500 miles with some real hard running, so I think I fixed the issue.
