1999 ford ranger xlt
I am new here,
I own a 1999 ford ranger 4.0,6 cyl
I have a knocking noise and dont know how to fix it
Ive had new wires, new plugs, everything cleaned out,and when i get to bout 50 it stars to knock,
I am using the gas it calls for and even tryed better gas,
still, knocks.
can anyone tell me what I can do

Does the "knock" go away when you let off of the gas? A true knock(pre-ignition) only happens under certain throttle conditions, usually part throttle at a cruise rpm. Is your noise constant at certain rpms, meaning that the throttle doesn't affect the noise much?

If it's a pinging, then I'd be doing the tune-up stuff, all of it. After that you end up looking for vacuum leaks, loose intake bolts, or dirty MAF, throttle body, etc. Good luck,
