I recieved my L&L mounts yesterday, and I went to garage to test fit them, and I am stumped.

Are they supposed to be a total Bolt in?

Because for me, they are not.

The installation instructions/directions I got were among the most pathetic thing I have ever seen:

From in the vehicle's engine compartment, install mount base. Do not torque bolts until engine is set in place.

Photo #2 (note: NO FRICKEN PHOTOS ON THE PAGE....No "Photo #1, 2, 3...NOTHING!)

Install top section of mount, See Photo#2 (again, NO PHOTO!) Do not torque bolts until engine is in place. Now install a remote oil adapter (L&L part # 040180) on the engine before lowering into place. Use a large nail or punch to align the engine mount sections install 3-3/4 long horizontal bolt. Torque all remaining engine mount bolts.

Note: on Pre 1988 4WD vehicles, it may be necessary to drill a 1/2" hole in Frame if 2 bolts are to be installed in engine moun base.

THAT IS ALL I GOT. I have gotten better instructions with a Happy Meal Toy!

This is ridiculous. For $175.00 I should have gotten something better than this crap.

I am installing it into my 1992 Explorer 2WD.

I ordered #030302 which is for 2WD RBV's. But I think I needed the 4WD kit. #030304.

Seriously?

NOBODY has a picture of JUST the mounts installed in the engine bay?

I tried to call L&L ALL FRICKEN DAY and never got an answer.

Ryan

Is this thing on?

i think i had one of just the mounts loosely placed in the bay...

but it would be in my dads camera so ill have to get back over there to get them.

ill be over there tomorrow night.

for me they bolted into the stock holes. except for i think the drivers side where i had to drill a new hole.

i just looked at the l&l pics and i had the 4x4 version.

was your donor originaly 4x2?

Yes. The X since new has been 2WD.

I have a 4WD X frame here @ the house, and the holes are the exact same...

Ryan

Here are the pics of the 2 frames that I have here @ the house to show that the holes are the same...

#1) 2WD Drivers Side
#2) 4WD Drivers Side
#3) 2WD Passenger Side
#4) 4WD Passenger Side

they should bolt right up man, the L&L mounts fit my 88 perfectly as well as a 93 4x4 frame we have done

they should be a direct bolt in for you??/

I have pics me thinks.... let me look

The kit I have is for a 2WD. Because that is what I have. Should I have bought the 4WD kit? because the 2WD and 4WD frames are the exact same? And more closely resemble the 4WD Ranger frame.

Ryan

explorer frames are 4x4 frames 2wd or not, I am not sure about the Ranger 2wd vs 4x4 engine cradles, can you call L&L and ask?

I agree the landl instructions were pathetically useless.

Yeah yo need the 4x4 ones. Or drill new holes in yours.

I tried again to call them, and got nowhere...

I'll try in the AM to see if I can exchange it for the 4WD kit.

Thanks,
Ryan

I FINALLY got ahold of someone @ L&L.

I am sending the 2WD frame mounts back, and they are sending me the 4x4 ones.
